Documents ‘Link’ Ruling Party Executive Haji Baniko To Suspected D91M Dubious Vehicle Transaction

JollofNews has seen documents that reportedly linked NPP executive Haji Baniko Sisoho to a suspected D91M dubious vehicle deal.

Haji Baniko Sisokho is an influential member of the National People’s Party and is one of the ruling party financiers. The businessman is also close to the Gambian leader, occupying a key position in the President’s party.

The documents marked: NAWEC/ICB/VEH/012/2022 reportedly indicated that Mr. Sisoho was in 2022 involved in the procurement of 26 pickup vehicles for NAWEC at the sum of D91,500,000.00.

The NPP executive has yet to respond to social media queries about his suspected role in the procurement of the vehicles that were delivered under the Gam Go business. This is the first time that many Gambians have heard of such a name.

Some Gambians, therefore, demand an explanation from Mr. Sisokho about his suspected role in the procurement of the 26 vehicles and whether the process has met the requirements. Others demand answers about Gam Go.

Meanwhile, Haji Baniko Sisoho is also reportedly the sole supplier of heavy duty fuel to NAWEC, a niche he reportedly enjoyed for some years now.

The national water and electricity company reportedly granted him the monopoly to supply the company fuel, which some criticised as anti-competition and inimical to electricity prices.

“With monopoly, you can charge any price and it wouldn’t be challenged because there is no competitor,” one of our sources said about how he believes the reported monopoly given to the executive could negatively impact electricity costs.
