(JollofNews) – The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has revealed plans for the eradication of hunger, malnutrition and the attainment of adequate food security in The Gambia.
The organization’s strategic objectives were contained in a statement by the FAO country representative, Perpetua Katepa-Kalala which underlined that improving food security in the country was the only way to deal with issues of malnutrition and hunger.
The statement was delivered by Amadou Bah, FAO Communication Officer at the ongoing 18-month Agriculture Journalism Project which opened at a local hotel in Gambia on Tuesday.
The program convened by the Networ of Agricultural Communicators in the Gambia in collaboration with FAO is under the theme; ”Empowering Farmers through Effective Agricultural Journalism’.
The project is aimed at educating participants on the relevance of information on agricultural improvement with a view to accelerating the attainment of Gambia’s national development agenda as encapsulated in President Yahya Jammeh’s Vision 2016.
