GACH Global Group has announced that premium-grade basalt is now available at its depots in Saro, near Denton Bridge, and Yundum Airport Junction.
The company said the material has been tested and certified by laboratories in The Gambia and Cape Verde and is suitable for road construction, concrete and building projects.
Basalt is in stock in three sizes: 0/3 mm, 3/8 mm and 8/16 mm.
GACH said the supply is sourced directly from a partner quarry in Cape Verde and will be delivered on a steady schedule due to the short shipping distance.
All orders will be weighed, the company added.
The announcement comes after restrictions on basalt exports from Senegal earlier this year left The Gambia facing shortages. Authorities granted GACH temporary use of 2.5 hectares of Salaji Forest Park for storage.
Officials stressed the site is part of an old quarry, has not been degazetted, and has been subject to an environmental assessment.
