The Gambia government has been unable to follow through on its vow to import 150 tractors for farmers before the seasonal rains begin.
The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Demba Sabally, last month told Star FM Wake-up Gambia morning program that an order was placed for the tractors and they would be in the country before farmers start tilling the land.
However, JollofNews has learned that the tractors have yet to arrive in the country, despite the rainy season having officially begun in The Gambia on 12 June 2025. Some parts of the country have already experienced light showers.
