Gambian Woman Killed In Edinburgh, Husband Arrested & Charged

A Gambian man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of his wife in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Police Scotland said officers were called around 1am on Thursday, 28 August 2025, to reports of a disturbance at a property on Restalrig Avenue.

A 43-year-old woman, now named as Ndata Bobb, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment but died shortly after arrival. Her family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Her husband, 55-year-old Momodou Bobb was also taken to St John’s Hospital for treatment before being arrested. He has since been charged in connection with her death and is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 1 September 2025.

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Ndata at this extremely difficult time.

Our investigation remains ongoing, however we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Ndata’s death. This is a shocking incident and I would urge anyone with any concerns, or information, to contact police.”

The death of Mrs. Bobb has shocked the Gambian community in Scotland and beyond. Friends have described her as a kind and hardworking woman who was well known within the diaspora.

Police have reassured the public that there is no wider risk to the community.
