Gambians are among citizens of some West African nations currently lending support to Russia’s drone production effort, reports reaching JollofNews intimated.
According to reports, nationals of The Gambia, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Nigeria have been lured to Russia’s Tartastan Special Economic Zone on the promise of well-paying jobs, but they found themselves working in factories that manufacture drones for Russia.
The Tartastan Economic Zone, which is said to be 800km away from the Russian capital, Moscow, was reportedly established in 2008 as a symbol of Russia’s economic evolution.
At the time of posting this story, JollofNews could not establish the number of Gambians who might be currently supporting Russia’s drone production drive in Tartastan.
Officials of the Gambian embassy in Moscow could not be immediately reached for comment.
The Russia-Ukraine war has seen an increased use of drones by both sides.
