(JollofNews) – An opposition party in the Gambia is putting pressure on the Government of President Adama Barrow to cough out the reasons for the sacking of the country’s minister of the Interior.
Former Interior Minister Mai Ahmad Fatty was sacked over two weeks ago for some explained reasons. There were speculations that he was sacked for corruption both Mr Fatty and the government have denied the allegation.
But as the president searches for Mr Fatty’s successor, the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) said the government should explain to the Gambian people why the high-profile minister and coalition partner was sacked.
“We demand the government to immediately explain why they sacked him because of the extremely embarrassing episode making the rounds between and among the Barrow inner circle and government insiders,” said Modou MC Cham Junior, GDC’s national youth mobiliser.
“This is a new Gambia. It is paramount for the general public to know what happened so that the issue of speculation will be the thing of the past.”
