GTBoard DG To Receive Meritorious Award At African Tourism Awards Dinner In London

The Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard), Mr. Abubacarr Camara, has been recognised as the Best Tourism Public Sector Official in 2025, and DG Camara is expected to receive this creditable and prestigious award at the forthcoming African Tourism Awards Dinner in London.

The GTBoard has also been recognised as The Best Tourism Marketing Institution in Africa under Camara’s strategic leadership.

Towering figures in the African and global tourism scenes are expected to converge on the UK’s capital on 2 November 2025, for the African Tourism Awards night (The Balcarica Awards), which is expected to be held in glitz and glamour.

“This recognition celebrates your exceptional leadership and dedication in steering the Gambia Tourism Board towards growth, sustainability, and international visibility. Your commitment to promoting The Gambia as a vibrant destination, while driving policies that enhance community participation and Industry development, has made a lasting impact on African tourism,” read the award citation.

One GTBoard staff described the awards as praise-worthy and a testament to DG Camara’s quality leadership and the team around him.

Prior to his elevation to the position of the director-general of the GTBoard, Mr. Camara served in key roles in the institution such as quality control manager.
