Former Interior Minister and leader of the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC), Mai Ahmed Fatty, has thrown his weight behind President Adama Barrow’s pledge to fully implement recommendations expected from the ongoing parliamentary inquiry over the secret sale of assets seized from former President Yahya Jammeh.
In a statement posted to his official Facebook page, Fatty described the President’s commitment as a “defining moment” for justice and national integrity, signaling what he sees as a critical break from a past marred by impunity.
Fatty stressed that the President’s resolve must be matched by every institution in the country, warning against any attempts at shielding individuals from accountability. He also issued a stern message to those who abused public trust, saying their time of reckoning has come.

President Adama Barrow’s firm commitment to implementing the parliamentary Committee’s prospective recommendations sends an unequivocal message, that The Gambia will no longer tolerate the plunder of its resources. This is not mere rhetoric. It is a defining moment for justice, transparency, and the rebirth of national integrity.
The President’s resolve must be met with equal determination by all institutions. There will be no cover ups, no selective enforcement, and no retreat from the pursuit of full accountability. The law applies to all, without exception.
The citizens demand for justice has been heard, and those who exploited public trust, your time of reckoning has come. The path forward is clear. The Gambia’s future is built on accountability, and we stand firmly behind the President in ensuring it is secured.
