(JollofNews)– United Nations sanctions, condemnation and diplomacy is the only option that could deter North Korean leader to abandon his nuclear program. The use of moderate force at this point is not the best option. The fear that military confrontation would degenerate or snowball into Third World War is unlikely.
North Korean leader Kim appears to be neither suicidal nor crazy. In the five and a half years since assuming power at age 27, he has acted with brutal efficiency to consolidate that power; the assassination of his half-brother is only the most recent example. As tyrants go, he’s shown appalling natural ability. For a man who occupies a position both powerful and perilous, his moves have been nothing if not deliberate and even cruelly rational.
And as the latest head of a family that has ruled for three generations, one whose primary purpose has been to survive, as a young man with a lifetime of wealth and power before him, how likely is he to wake up one morning and set fire to his world?
America is once again in an expansionist mood. Iraq was but a “breakfast”. Afghanistan is “picnic lunch”. In North Korea Americans wants to dine! The United States has strong teeth but a weak stomach. No wonder, it has digestive problems with Afghanistan. Be that as it may, America seems intent on using the September 11 attacks to impose what is called a ‘civilization of fear’. Both Iran and North Korea are now in gun sights.
How long is it going to take for America to recognize that war in North Korea will be another fiasco – tragic, deeply dehumanizing and ultimately unwinnable? One thing is clear, peace and stability will never realize if aggression continues and American soldiers remain on North Korean soil. Instead of enacting a charade, America should turn North Korea over to a genuine international coalition headed by the UN and not dug itself into a deep, deep hole. Playing the world’s policeman is not the answer to the madness of the North Korean leader.
Anti-American sentiment, now at its highest, has metastasized all over the world. Democracy in North Korea is a self-made illusion. It is a farce that will be swept away if America and its allies stop propping it up with their bayonets.
Alagi, North Korean Kim is crazy. He has well defined psychiatric disorder beyond the scope of this forum. I do agree that ONLY negotiated diplomacy is the answer to this huge world problem. The US government must convince him that there will be significant consequences to him personally and his inner circle if he fails to negotiate in good faith. There is need to make it clear to him that a military solution will be initiated if diplomacy fails. The mind of all dictators and bullies works the same. Internally they are cowards, when faced with personal danger and a real threat of death and isolation. Perfect example is Jammeh. He left only when it was clear that he will be killed. This is ONE time I will say that Trump unpredictable character and total disregard for establishment opinion will work. Kim will comply and sanctions will work, because he believes that Trump is crazier than he is. I expect that they will tone down the rhetoric and negotiate.
Well, in the Chinese papers yesterday, China has said IF, USA strike North Korea first, China will defend North Korea, but IF North Korea strike first, China will not defend North Korea! Like I have always said, anything USA and it’s allies start, Russia alone will finish with its electromagnetic jamming signal. Which they have used a couple of times in Syria, on Israeli fighter jets successfully and a USA warship named USS Donald cook! And this is old Russian technology
Yes Grim reaper…China has indeed indicated its readiness to intervene and protect North Korea, if it becomes the victim of another round of US aggression in the Korean peninsula. And let’s remember, it will not be the first time. China did intervene during the Korean War to protect the North.
North Korea will not attack US first, despite all the rhetoric. In fact, when we look at that country’s behaviour, it becomes apparent that the month of August is when their rhetoric is at its peak, because that’s the period when US and South Korea conduct their annual military exercises. The Trump administration, despite the level of tensions, has refused to call off this year’s exercises, which is slated for 21-31 August.
Previous US Presidents understand North Korean behaviour and never indulge in the kind of tit-for-tat rhetoric that President Trump is doing now. It is kind of reckless and dangerous because if we all accept that Kim Jong Un is mad, then provoking him is akin to provoking a mad man, isn’t it?
It is very assuring to hear Trump saying that “hopefully, it will all work out”. I think sense has been put into his head by his generals.
It’s just a case of history repeating itself. From the Korean war to Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Yemen. The only winners are the munitions dealers. Those on the receiving end, {The people } carry the burden>>as usual. As with all these man made conflicts, Governments will sell the idea, and give so many reasons why conflict is inevitable, and how it presents a clear and present danger to their people. Those who shout against weapons of mass destruction, have by far the largest arsenal themselves. It is very human to hold the largest weapon and because it is available>>> to use it. Hiroshima and Nagasaki, was not a dream. It did happen. The writing has faded on the wall>>but the scars remain.
Someone someday will push the button; That’s a fact. We the people will have under 4 minutes to say good bye. Meanwhile the President’s will sit underground, to weep and wonder “how did it happen”” what could we have done differently”?
ego of the rich against the failed dreams for humanity from God. One can truly understand why Islam, prepares for the next life. This life is full of risk and sacrifice, with just few fleeting moments of joy. Love thy neighbour.
Bax, rumour is the Donald is in a nuclear bunker right now, everything is loaded and ready, major USA states are on nuclear attack alert, time to get out the popcorn!
HMS QE>>>that 3 Billion pound paddle steamer ? Well you could say we are planning for conventional warfare for the next 30 Years. Typical of Great Britain, still living in the Second World War, not preparing for the Third World War. I think now Usain and Mo have retired, there’s not much to live for anyway. lol.
Mike, neither of these two will push the bottom. The barking of 2 mad men is unlikely going to result in nuclear war. That is if we avoid miscalculation on both sides and hope that they both take their medication. The real solution to North Korea is a mature comprehensive bilateral negotiations between the US and China dealing with all issues in the Korean Peninsula. It is clear that the world will have to accept a nuclear North Korea. The real diplomatic success will come from how and when China agree to curtail North Korean Kim’s ambition.
China have much to gain from this situation. The United States have lost the plot and Trump has lost his chewing gum. Whilst China appear remote and the verbal exchange exposes Trump’s ego eccentric mantra. The ambition of China makes progress without hindrance and North Korea gain a lot of gratitude from China.
Its all a game..played by those striving to gain in world influence and economic superiority. If it were two runners chasing the gold medal>>China are overtaking the USA 50 metres before the line. How this will affect world order and where it will all end up is anyone’s guess. If the USA are placed in a tight corner…someone like Trump could lose it. The total cost will be unmanageable and life as we know it will change forever.
The Eastern world. ,, it is exploding, violence flarin,. bombs are loading, your old enough to kill but not for voting, you don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun your totin, and even the Jordan River has bodies floatin, and you tell me over and over and over again, my friend,,, you don’t believe were on the eve of destruction…na na na na na.
Think of all the hate, there is in red China, then take a look around at Selma Alabama, you may leave here for 4 days in space err but when you return its the same old place. The pounding of the drums is a frightening disgrace, you can bury your dead, no don’t leave a trace, hate your next door neighbour, but don’t forget to say grace son, and you tell me over and over and over again, you don’t believe were on the eve of destruction na na na na. You don’t believe in believing..anymore.

You tube>> Barry Mcguire “Eve of Destruction” Great song.
“The United States has lost the plot”, says Mike Scales…..”And herein lies the danger to world peace.”, says Bax. Why, you may ask?
Well, the answer requires a lengthy discussion which may be inappropriate here, but simply put, the US establishment is suddenly waking up to the reality that the US could be in very, very serious economic troubles, putting its very existence into jeopardy, sooner than later.
You see, the US lives in a bubble and it has lived in this huge bubble since President Franklin D. Roosevelt abandoned the gold standard in 1933 and severed all links between the Dollar and gold. The US thus, was free to print paper money that is not linked to any asset and “pour” it into its economy to boost production, and it is only confidence in the ability of the US government to honour its financial pledge, via the Dollar, that gives the worthless paper any value at all.
With the end of WWII, the US emerged as the top country on that list of nations favoured by history, at that juncture: its national currency becoming the most dominant currency of international trade and international foreign exchange reserves, thus linking the economy of the entire world to the US economy. This new found status allowed the US to print and release vast amounts of Dollars into circulation, thereby creating enormous wealth and spending power from worthless paper money.
The volume of US Dollars in circulation today is not backed by economic production in the US, but rather, by merely selling debts, through FED backed low interest Treasury Bonds to an endless queue of willing buyers. Imagine what will happen if the US Dollar loses this favoured status!!! Catastrophic, isn’t it?
Well, look at global trends now. 60 years ago, the Dollar’s share as a currency of global reserve was 90%; today, it’s about 60%. And as a percentage of total world money supply, the drop is even more steeper, according to Dick Bove, vice president of equity research at Rafferty Capital Markets; from nearly 90% in 1952, to around 15% today.
Nations, led by China, Russia, India, Brazil and South Africa (BRICS), are moving away from the Dollar and Washington controlled, manipulated and dominated economic and financial institutions (due to decades of Washington’s abuse of its favoured position), and the realisation of the consequences of such a departure on the US (and her allies) economy is the reason for the empires reckless, mindless and dangerous attempts to seek a New World Order and re-establish its uncontestable domination of the world.
And herein lies the danger to world peace. It is not Trump, or Obama or George W. Bush or Bill Clinton who are the dangers. It is the US system and set up which is the danger to itself and world peace.
It is a greedy and vociferous entity that will go the way of all such entities before it, for as history can testify, like the dinosaurs of the past and empires of old, when an entity becomes so vociferous and greedy for resources that cannot be sustained by its environment, the natural consequence of such monstrosity is a slow, excruciating death. The empire, unfortunately, is on that trajectory towards oblivion, unless it takes a break and re-examines itself now.
Thank God we have seen the best in all there is to see in every possible human endeavour, whether that’s in sports, music, arts, science or scientific innovation, for our civilisation may not survive another global conflict, which is inevitable, unless Washington changes course, which is most unlikely judging by the quality of mediocre representation in that, once great country.
Another exemplary analysis from the remarkable Bax.
America’s position has now only two realities which amount to lose big or lose small. But losing is inevitable. The economic forces against have grown overwhelmingly. Slowly its enemies conspire to lower the American flag and world power.
However, for more than one hundred years, we have sheltered under its safe umbrella to pursue prosperity and life style ever so free.Today because of the global web>>the poorest citizen can challenge the most powerful leaders in the world. Those countries who deny or control the internet, are the tyrants and enemies of the people. They own vast armies and control of human aspirations. So be careful what you wish for. The choice is very clear.
We are all to lose by this, and that’s a fact.We all have equal shares in our democracies. Much of what we have today is down to a strong America and a strong democracy. So in conclusion, this is not only an attack on America. It is also an attack upon the existence of democracy itself. President’s come and go in America. Some good some bad. The good news is that they do Go. !!
The world cannot sustain itself as we know it without the US, but the world will be better off without China. The Chinese economy is intricately dependent on the US dollar, as most of their reserve is held by the US. Having said that, the sociopolitical cat and mouse game is in the preserve of grown ups – “the big boys”. Those who control the worlds food supply and weapons of destruction and intimidation. I think those who believe that the US has lost its way are mistaken. America, the system, the People will continue to control innovation and commerce for the next 100 years. China and Russia will continue to be a distant second while Europe remain the dependent step child. Well as for Africa – we remain the dummy that lays the golden egg.
I have several long time friends from China. Reliable trustworthy to the extreme and so respectful. It is not the people who are enemies of the people, but the Communist ethos. We recall the eminent prophet Nostradamus who predicted there would be war upon war until China would rule the world. That was 150 years ago. But to think rationally, there would have to be an unimaginable situation where the Western nuclear powers would be forced to refrain from using the ultimate weapon. This would involved the capitulation of the West, culminating to wholesale surrender of our sovereignty, to fit uncomfortably into slavery and allegiance to Chinese authority.
This would require the West to lose its dominance of investment banking and the collapse of the dollar. { as Bax has said } I tend to feel that China’s economic ascendance is a mirror image of the Japanese manufacturing miracle of the 1970’s. An ascendance that found its own level, but then ran into currency problems and exchange rate difficulties. That being the case to global realliance from the banking crash of 2008, should be completed within the next 5 to 10 years, and China and the emerging markets of the Far East, may well need to face challenges from peoples expectations of higher living standards and wages and healthcare and pensions. How India and the Far East meet these social challenges, could stall national progress and cause a significant loss of productivity, with dire consequences for profitability and growth..
