New York Letter With Alagi Yorro Jallow: Trump Is Not Fit To Serve As President

Alagi Yorro Jallow

(JollofNews)- President Donald Trump fantasizes about suppressing Press Freedoms, among other civil liberties. He believed evidently that the president is like an absolute monarch, having said he thought being chief executive of the U.S. government would be easier than being a beauty pageant impresario and reality TV star.

The dumbing down of America is complete. The Americans have elected a reality show television celebrity as President of the United States, leader of the free world, and in turn have made a joke out of the real world and this country. He has dementia and is unfit to serve.

The President of the United States posted a video that shows him violently attacking a person with a CNN logo on their head. This is barely a month after a Republican Congressman body slammed a reporter and still won the election.

This is the behavior that eighty percent of Republican voters currently support. More importantly, this is the current state of the Republican party and their base of voters. They are literally unable to distinguish wrestling from reality. Donald Trump is President of the United States, and he is today officially an embarrassment to the United States of America.

But having authoritarian inclinations is one thing. Being a competent and determined authoritarian who calculates his moves, and who sees reality with clear eyes without deceiving himself with his own rhetoric, is another. Since he assumed the presidency, we can see this presidency is almost entirely in name only. What you see is all there is to see. Donald Trump is a hollow president.

There are no principles behind his actions. There are no values beneath the statements. Trump’s politics are gestural. His thinking is symbolic. His remarks are reactionary and contingent. He is indeed a thoroughgoing salesman.

Donald Trump

What the product is doesn’t matter. Who’s buying it doesn’t matter. How he’s selling it doesn’t matter. Why he’s selling it doesn’t matter. All that matters are getting the mark to believe everything he says is true. All that matters are getting to yes. Now.

It’s a sad state of affair when a person who has been elected to a high office, which should command respect, uses that office to demean others, with salacious and crude phrases, reflecting a mean spirit and small wit, denigrates that office ultimately to ridicule and disgust.

Donald’s words and actions by the position he holds will be part of the history of this nation. And the people he has sworn to lead and whose Constitution he has been bonded to uphold when he took that oath of office. Future generation of citizens will measure his words and actions and judge what will his legacy will be.

I genuinely fear for the journalists lives and safety. President Donald Trump is increasingly and violently radicalizing the more susceptible members of his base (and we know there are many them).

In the end, they’ll do his dirty work for him to take out the “enemy” in the name of “patriotism,” and President Trump will stand back and deny any culpability.

This is very dangerous and exactly what he wants! Americans must demand the Republicans in power do something before it is too late and innocent people are killed! This is a personal affront to all who fought and died for freedom of the press. It is an affront to decency everywhere.

  1. A bit presumptuous to suppose that we have the answer as to who is, or is not fit to serve as President for the American people, I like to think.

Contrary to the noise coming from chattering classes, Trump remains hugely popular with the ‘”left-behind-people” who put him there in the first place. – all of them no less American than the shamelessly self-interested, and noisy elitist classes!

If only the-left-behinds of the African continent had the guts to stand against the hugely patronising, largely useless establishment figures in the way the of the American, most recently the British, the French, left-behinds, then, and only then can we begin to see the whole point in Trumps presidency – definitely not what they teach at Harvard!

  2. I think Trump has shaken the” turf” of the prime time news correspondent, whose sensationalist reporting, fake news and personality”witch hunt” cult, has outgrown the” left behind” people’s trust. They also pay huge sums of money for any breaking news story, photo or leaked dossiers from government agencies. Or personal tragedies or private “tell tale” disclosures. They destroy good peoples lives and make public life not worth the journey or the risk>>At that we all lose. If the news agencies want to make a reality TV show out of the Greatest Office in the free World. Then power has left the people and has been placed at the mercy of the
9 o’clock News and there viewing figures.”
    It’s all to do with the declining sales of high street newspapers and the declining TV viewing figures and the massive shift towards social media.{people power}
Trump is smart and out flanks and confuses their every move via his Twitter Account.
I think Journalism is like the Law. It should be impartial. But that is only my opinion. To educate and inform is to let the people have an opinion and the final choice. I am against biased reporting or undue influence of any correspondent on what is the people’s news. Information is power and that is what the people require.
The term “our special correspondent” on every subject matter under the sun, is a modern trend that is highly suggestive in that “expert” knows more than the person they are reporting on. That’s really bad news. It causes anxiety and expectation in the viewer, that is a power too far. It’s like modern advertising which has to conform to certain standards. Only News reporting has no such regulation. That is the problem. Self regulation by the press has been challenged time and again. Phone tapping and bribes to the Police and other agencies have been exposed very recently. It is a fine line that today is crossed as a rule and not as an exception to the rule.
I think President Trump has exposed, what has been going on for far too long. As to whether Trump is a good President>>The people will decided that in about Three and a half years time. Who will win the Battle between the Office of The President and the Free Press>>Time will tell. We all know the Big Press Moguls are very powerful and immensely rich people. But so is Donald J. Trump. and his supporters. I admire Trump on this one>>>he could have said and done nothing and prospered. But we can see why he has achieved much.

  3. Yep, “He has dementia” that’s the new slogan to try and remove, the Donald, the Russian connections, slogan is not working.
By the way, historically in America, it was the Rebulican party that were against slavery and keeping of slaves and the Democrats, loved slavery and kept slaves!

  4. Jarga world.com

Trump has similarities with Yahya Jammeh and if the the Gambia survived Jammeh for 22 years, America can survive 1, 4, or 8 years of Trump. The powers of the presidency and robustness of American system and people are under test. Marijuana is said to help dementia and other problems. President Trump fulfills campaign promises or standings, except on marijuana …? He once said, ‘Medical marijuana should be legal’, so let Medical marijuana be legal at the federal level before repealing Obamacare, or may the Lord proportionately curse him and those against medical marijuana. Trump said, ‘the states should decide on recreational marijuana use’, so let the federal government jail no person for marijuana, or may the Lord proportionately curse him and those with him against marijuana users. Obama and how many democrats are not fighting for the ‘passive’ marijuana legacy of the people than states and Obama like they do on their questionable Obamacare. We believe in marijuanacare than Obamacare, Trumpcare, and anything less than the rising hope and blessings we have seen through marijuana. Obama, Trudeau, Trump, Macron,, and how many leaders make their marijuana promises or statements for votes, then varyingly wait for the people to pressure them to actions?

  5. Bourne; Are you feeling depressed tonight ? hahahaha.

One for Alagi; A 60 year old man married a 17 year old dolly bird and they lived in a swish 17 story apartment block. He would go to work every day and call his young wife every 10 minutes because she was so attractive. One morning he rang but there was no answer. He thought, that’s it she is with another man and raced to his apartment, but the lift wasn’t working. So he climbed the 17 flights of stairs, holding his chest, which was painful. When he arrived, he pushed through the door exhausted. He shouted OKay where his he? I know he’s here somewhere ? His wife pleaded with him saying there was a friend here but he’s left. The Husband looked outside the window and could see a man leaving the apartment in a hurry putting his coat on. He searched the room and found a fridge which he threw out of the window. Then he clutched his chest and died of a heart attack.
He then arrived at the waiting room outside the Gates of St Peter. An angel said? well Mr Brown, how did you get here ? Mr Brown said, I was jealous of my young wife and rushed home and threw a very heavy fridge out of the window, then I had a heart attack and died. The angel moved to the next man and asked ? well how did you get here ? He replied, I was late for work and was running for the bus putting my coat on, and then this large fridge dropped from the sky on my head? Oh! tough luck my friend> The angel then moved to the next man and said ? Well what happened to you Mr Orange ? Well I was minding my own business sitting in this fridge ????

  6. Bourne, the Russia thing is a big “Nothing Burger”. They got no hand in the elections. I’m sure KGB would love to have “their man” in the White House; just like the CIA would love to have theirs in the Kremlin.
These two have been trying very hard to influence events in each other’s backyards for decades. There’s nothing new there.
US “crying” over Russian meddling is the joke of the century, isn’t it. Is there any country on this planet where US has not interfered in their internal politics, sometimes with deadly consequences? In some countries, they actually give (mostlydeprived) people serious money and other desirable stuff (such as latest electronic gadgets) to engage in civil, disruptive activities, like demonstrations. Come on Uncle Sam, give us a break.
As for Trump, his rise to power is probably the indication that the sun is beginning to set on the US empire. It is the history of all great empires: they reach a certain peak, stay their for a bit and then the rot begins. It starts within and gradually but surely, it gets worse until the empire disintegrates completely and falls in on itself.
There is no way back for the US. It can only delay the inevitable, but it can’t stop it.
