The Secretary General and Party Leader, the Executive Members, and the entire membership of the National People’s Party (NPP) announce with deep sorrow the sudden and untimely passing of our Local Government Councillor for Kaiaf Ward, Kiang East, in the Mansakonko Area Council.
Councillor Hamat Ceesay tragically lost his life following a lightning strike during a thunderstorm on Saturday, 8th November 2025, while working on his farm.
His Excellency President Adama Barrow, on behalf of the entire membership of the National People’s Party and its partner parties, extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Councillor Ceesay, the people of Kaiaf Ward, the Chairman, and Councillors of the Mansakonko Area Council on this great loss.
The demise of Councillor Ceesay is not only a profound loss to his family and community but also to the entire NPP family and The Gambia at large.
He was an astute supporter and dedicated member of the National People’s Party, who served his people with distinction, humility, and a passionate sense of duty. His service to his community remains exemplary and worthy of emulation.
The Party Leader and Secretary General, His Excellency President Barrow, prays that the Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him eternal rest in Jannah, and gives his family and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
