NPP Spain Supporters Say Airport Fees Financially Burdens Families

NPP supporters in Spain have united in their appeal to the NPP administration to scrap the D1000 airport security fees, highlighting that the levy places extra financial burden on vacationing families.

As NPP faithfuls and well-wishers gathered in Girona, Spain last Saturday to take part in the party’s diaspora financial resource mobilisation event in that city, NPP supporters, domicile in Spain, saw the unique opportunity to bring to the attention of the administration that they fervently support that its security levy at the Banjul International Airport has been affecting their holiday experiences.

“Imagine, you have five to six children and you have to pay D1000 for each of them at the airport whenever you come home for holidays,” the supporters’ representative said in a meeting with party officials and his remarks were received with an applause from members of the Gambian community in Spain, who were in attendance.

“That’s a lot of money and it affects our holiday experiences as it places an extra layer of finance stress on families,” he said of the D1000 airport security fee.
