Police To Set Stage For Justice Darboe’s Possible Prosecution

The editor-in-chief of JollofNews Momodou Justice Darboe has been asked to return to the Banjul police station next Friday for fingerprinting as the police prepare to set the stage for his possible prosecution.

Mr. Darboe has been reporting to the Banjul police station on bail since his arrest, detention and release last month.

He was detained at the Banjul police station and subsequently charged with the alleged offence of assaulting police officers.

However, Darboe denied the charge, saying it was in fact the police that assaulted him in the conduct of his work.

Editor Darboe said he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by individuals, who were later identified as police officers, for taking pictures of two Austrian suspects at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court.
