Ramada By Wyndham To Launch First International Resort In Banjul

Gambia’s hospitality landscape is set for a major boost with the arrival of a globally recognised hotel brand. G Wellness Company Limited, a subsidiary of MP Trading Group, has announced a new partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to open the first internationally branded resort in Banjul under the Ramada by Wyndham name.

The resort, slated to open by mid-2026, will be located in the coastal town of Kotu one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Known for its picturesque beaches and bustling local markets, Kotu has long been a favorite among both domestic and international visitors.

Once complete, the Ramada Resort by Wyndham Banjul will feature 65 guest rooms, a restaurant with all-day dining, a lounge bar, ocean-view swimming pool, wellness spa, and meeting spaces catering to both leisure and business travelers. The property will sit just 22 kilometers from Banjul International Airport and roughly 15 kilometers from the capital city.

“Partnering with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for this landmark project in Banjul marks an important milestone for us,” said Manish Tilokani, Chairman of MP Trading Group. “Bringing the first internationally branded resort to The Gambia is a meaningful step in our growth, and with Ramada by Wyndham, we are committed to delivering high-quality hospitality standards.”

The project signals a growing confidence in The Gambia’s tourism sector, which has seen consistent government support in recent years. In 2019, the country welcomed over 620,000 visitors, and while the pandemic temporarily stalled progress, efforts to revitalize the industry have remained steady.

Govind Mundra, Head of Development Middle East & Africa at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said the expansion reflects the company’s wider ambitions across West Africa. “This collaboration with G Wellness Company Limited represents a significant addition to our portfolio in West Africa,” Mundra said. “It reflects our ongoing focus on expanding into high-potential, underserved markets and supporting our partners in delivering trusted, branded hospitality.”

The move is expected to attract more international travelers and business to the region, while also creating jobs and opportunities for the local community.

As The Gambia continues to position tourism as a central pillar of national development, projects like the Ramada Resort by Wyndham Banjul could play a key role in raising its global profile and improving the quality of visitor experiences.
