Sabally Says UDP Lacks ‘Moral Authority’ To Criticise Barrow & NPP Over Jammeh’s Asset Sales

Presidential adviser and deputy campaign manager of the NPP Momodou Sabally has pointed out that the UDP cannot assume the high moral ground as far as the sale of former President Jammeh’s assets are concerned, highlighting that the Gambia’s main opposition party was part of the coalition government that constituted the commission, which investigated the financial dealings of the Jammeh and his close associates.

“UDP does not have the moral authority to criticise President Barrow and NPP on this Jammeh issue,” Sabally said on Coffee Time With Peter Gomez .”When the commission was being formed, UDP was part and parcel of this coalition government, and UDP was the major stakeholder, and they were calling the shots in this government, and even by a cursory look at the composition of the Janneh commission, you will know that the key players are all associated with UDP, Ba Tambadou who I have criticized and I still criticize, is celebrated by the UDP to date.”

The storm generated by the publication of a report by The Republic about the sale of Jammeh’s assets is refusing to dissipate.
