The Soninkara Association of The Gambia has joined forces with other United Democratic Party-affiliated groups in preparing the ground to accord a “hero’s welcome” to the party leader from his European tour.
JollofNews gathered on Tuesday that the association has already printed T-shirts and other UDP paraphernalia in preparation for Darboe’s return on October 25th. The association has also reportedly committed to easing the massive logistical nightmare that is expected to accompany Darboe’s home-return. It has earmarked vehicles, which will be stationed at the Buffer Zone in Tallinding, in the morning of Darboe’s arrival.
According to sources, the Soninkara Association and other groups “are marshalling” people in the Upper River Region (URR) for Darboe’s welcoming party.
“Famous griots and entertainers from the URR such as Ajurum Jang Ka Jang Jang Jana, will also be travelling to the Kombos for the welcoming party,” sources said.
The UDP is expecting thousands of its supporters to descend on the Banjul International Airport on October 25th to welcome the party’s leader from, what many UDP supporters said, was a successful European tour.
The UDP leader addressed packed conference venues in European cities and towns and raised much-needed funds for his party in preparation for next year’s presidential election.
