Saibo Manneh is one of the illustrious sons of The Gambia, who is finding solutions to the country’s many development challenges in his own way. But who exactly is Saibo Manneh? Well, our reporter sat down with him at his office at the Senegambia Strip two months ago and below his piece….
The CEO of GamGo Company, Mr Saibo Manneh, is an embodiment of determination and resilience.
Born in the Serekunda suburb of Tallinding in the late 1980s, Mr Manneh learned pretty quickly that he needed to be by the side of his late entrepreneur father to draw from his business acumen. CEO Manneh’s father, Alhaji Saja Manneh, was a successful businessman and he was determined to see his son succeed in life after noticing his potential. CEO Manneh’s father helped him hone his business skills by directly involving him in running his business.
Mr Manneh was playing in the topflight local league when he finally decided to finally shift his focus to business.
By dint of hard work, he was able to transform a sole proprietorship to a profit-making company.
GamGo started as a sole proprietorship in 2016 dealing in tiles and construction materials. However, the company forayed into procurement in 2024 as it explored more avenues to diversify its investment portfolio.
CEO Manneh’s childhood experiences, both in the urban Gambia and his native home of Jally Medina in rural Gambia have prepared him for this voyage of success being written today.
Despite having the opportunity to transition to a junior secondary school in the urban Gambia, CEO Manneh’s father decided that his son must go to the village in rural Gambia to continue his primary education. Away from the conveniences and comforts of his father’s Tallinding home such as a utility vehicle, Tv set, electricity, good food and all the good things of life, CEO Manneh found himself living a whole new experience. He walked kilometers to and from school for some years, toiled in the farm, tended livestock and endured hunger and lean seasons that mostly affected rural Gambia at the time.
In hindsight, CEO Manneh thanked his late father for preparing him well for life’s challenges.
The GamGo boss attributed his empathy, sympathy, broad perspective on life and steel determination to succeed to the way his father prepared him for life’s journey.
Today, his company boasts of successfully executing multi-million dalasi procurement projects across the various sectors of the Gambian economy.
CEO Manneh is happily married and has kids.
