UDP NBR Chair Calls For Taking Back Of Honorary Father Titles

The United Democratic Party’s regional, constituency and ward chairmen in the North Bank Region (NBR) have been rallied by the party’s regional chairman Alhaji Sainey Sabally to consider it as a duty to ensure all those groups that adopted individuals as honorary fathers to take back the titles.

Sabally, however, pointed out that anyone who chose to swim with the tide of the honorary fathers was free to do so.

“The stance of all the regional chairmen is that every member who adopted a father, it’s the business of the regional, constituency and ward chairmen to follow all of them to ensure the honorary father titles are withdrawn. Also, whoever wants to rally behind them can go,” he emphasised.

Mr. Sabally said the withdrawal of the honorary father titles must be accountable and sincere through and through.

“List down all their names, the head of every group, his/her names and constituency to ensure the groups have withdrawn their titles from all these people who exited [UDP], not just talking in the forum,” he underlined.

The regional chair fell short of naming names but many believed he was galvanizing the UDP grassroots supporters into distancing themselves from Talib Bensouda, Karafa Sonko and other UDP officials, who either resigned from the party or relinquished their positions.
