Top UDP strategists on Monday met Lawyer Ousainou Darboe at his office in Pipeline barely a week after his resounding victory in the United Democratic Party flagbearer race.
The regional and constituency chairmen and coordinators met Hon. Darboe to discuss UDP’s strategies for next year’s high-stake presidential election as well as Darboe’s planned diaspora tour, this medium gathered.
The in-camera meeting came at a time when the Gambia’s largest opposition party was going through one of the turbulent phases of its history as some of its officials announced their disengagement from key party roles in protest to Lawyer Darboe’s election.
Though the details about the Monday meeting were scant, some commentators said it was geared towards putting the Yellow House in order and re-energizing it after a tumultuous few weeks of open internal wrangling over the flagbearer issue.
