UDP WCR Councillors Congratulate Lawyer Darboe

The UDP councillors in the West Coast Region (WCR) have congratulated Lawyer Ousainou Darboe following his commanding victory in the UDP flagbearer election Wednesday.

Hon. Darboe scooped 65 votes while his opponents barrister Borry Touray and former finance minister Amadou Sanneh secured eight votes and two votes, respectively.

The councillors commended all those that have shown interest in leading the UDP in next year’s presidential election for their comportment throughout the election process.

“We commend the party’s aspirants for their patience, understanding, and love for the party during the internal democratic process. The rigorous exercise showcased our commitment to democracy and reinforced our party’s name – United Democratic Party,” acknowledged the councillors in a missive.

“We express gratitude to all stakeholders for their contributions,” they added.

The UDP WCR councillors called for unity around their party leader for a change of the current political status quo.

“Now, we call on everyone to unite behind our leader and build a formidable force to redeem our nation. Let us put aside our differences, swallow our pride, and work together to save our country,” they stressed.

“United We Stand, United We Succeed!” concluded their missive.
