The Village Heads (Alkalo’s) of Lower Niumi in the North Bank Region (NBR) have presented Chief George Sonko with a certificate of appreciation, recognising his dedication and service to the community.
This gesture is a testament to the respect and gratitude that the village heads and the community have for Chief Sonko’s leadership and contributions.
Speaking on behalf of the Alkalo’s, Dodou Saine of Niumi Kerr Sanyang, praised Chief George Sonko’s efforts in promoting development and welfare in the region. “Chief George Sonko is doing well in his own region. Thanks to his efforts that the Essau District Court is receiving fewer communal court cases. Chief George Sonko is among the few, if not the only chief to stop receiving payment on compensation for transferring land from land dealers,” he said.
Receiving the award, Chief George Sonko expressed his delight and appreciation to the Alkalo’s, describing them as second to none. “I thank you for the award. You know this award would go a long way in encouraging me to do more. We are one people, one Niumi, and we have a nation to build,” he concluded.
