(JollofNews) – President Yahya Jammeh of the Gambia has fired the country’s secretary general, minister of Presidential Affairs and Civil Service.
Lamin Nyabally, who was appointment to the post in January this year, was sent packing Tuesday.
State television (GRTS) gave no reason in its announcement late on Thursday for the removal of Nyabally but a statement from the Office of the President said he was removed in accordance with provisions of the country’s constitution.
No successor has yet been named and the position is being overseen by the Office of the President.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Nyabally served as permanent secretary at the Office of the Vice President and deputy secretary general Office of President.
President Jammeh has ruled the former British colony with a tough hand since seizing power in a military coup in 1994, when he was just 29.
