  1. Dormu Rewwum Gambia (aka Luntango Suun Gann Gi)

Infact I said earlier today before we were given this name Adrian that the man is not even a real Muslim – just another fanatical English Terrorist. The Gambian woman is probably completely innocent – I don’t see ANY Gambian supporting such a heartless terrorist act.

  2. Dormu Rewwum, it is also important to check out what kind of person you are dating typical gambian don’t condones violence, so if you dating some one different from your traditional, best to known the person who you dating. Just don’t go blind because you think he is a Muslim spacial those coward Muslims who don’t offer not thing order than crisis.

  3. Typical Gambian don’t condone violence.

  4. This is all the more reason why there should be Separation between Mosque and State in our part of the World. This would go far in Mitigating the Often too Close for Comfort sic Relationships between our Political leaders and the “Powerful Religious Personslities in our Societies. In Africa, this is Not Peculiar to Muslim Majority Countries. In Christian Majority Countries in Africa, there is Similar Co-opting and Exploitation of each other, the Politicians and the Imams/Priests. The same can be said of the Muslim Majority Countries too. The Imams/ Priests Need the Politicians Access to and Control of Resources and Earthly Power, while the Politicians Needs the Priests’ Congregation or Members to help them Win and Support their Policy Agenda. Another Variable is that most Predominantly Muslim Countries’ need to be Sensitive to is the Feelings and Expressed Concerns of Religious Prejudice and Discrimination of any kind toward Non Muslim Minorities in our Societies. I am Not very Concerned about the Gambians and Gambia in general. However, I am Concerned about the Individuals who Seem to be Overly or some might say, Disproportionately Emersed in the Quranic and Sharia law when they are Discussing about the Gambian Political, Social and Moral State of Affairs. The Danger is that such Commentary by some who might not have an in-depth Knowledge and Expertise in the Quran and Sharia law may Misinterpret and Inadvertently Parrot out information that others may Take or Accept as Fact and Act on it. The Current Government ought to embark on a Proactive Policy of Sensitizing the Public of the Need to be Vigilant and indeed Report any ANOMALIES in the Behavior and Pronouncements of Individuals who Subscribe to “Radical Extremists Religious Views”. The danger is in Blind Allegiance and Unquestioned Believe and Following of those who Subscribe to Radical Extremists Religious Views. The Gambia and Gambians I know are Not such individuals. I hope No Gambian is, including those in the Diaspora. One Gambia, One People and One Destiny.

    • Sidi, this might be the only few occasions that you and i will agree on the same thing. You are absolutely right we should take religion completely out of politics. We should start by first dissolving any state office for religious affairs because it’s creation is the root courses of this rise in fanaticism in the Gambia and subtle religious intolerant.

  5. Gambians have enjoyed peaceful, respectful and tolerant religious coexistence because our fathers have cultivated that sense of being a family of ONE nation, of diverse people, with different faiths and respecting each other for what we are, but we mustn’t be complacent, especially after 2 decades of what borders on state encouraged extremism.
There is a breed of well educated Islamic preachers (popularly labelled “etudiant” (French for student) by late erudite scholar & preacher, Ustass Omar Bun Jeng) whose teachings, at times, are too close to the peripheries of extremism, if not outright extremist, and we must be wary of these preachers.
These are the products of prestigious Islamic Institutions in the Islamic world, particularly Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which are (so to speak) the cradle of extremism within Islam, and what they learn and preach, is inspired at times by nothing but hatred, intolerance and arrogance that had dogged the peoples of that part of the world for centuries (well before Islam) and some misuse scripture and history (Sunnah) to create an ideology that is hard to differentiate from Islam, unless one uses their intelligent and intelligence.
I listened to one preaching in Mandinka on a Gambian online radio named, “Islam in the Gambia”, and frankly, I am shocked at some of the things he was saying.
He was preaching how it was unislamic to reside or even wish to reside in the West because he called them Kafir countries, as if Christians, who predominantly reside in the West, are what the Quran refers to as Kafirr/Kufarr.
In another instance, he claimed that a non Muslim, who was given a lavish funeral, will go to hell because he has enjoyed the rewards of his earthly life. What arrogance for anyone to claim to know the destiny of a dead; What insensitivity to the feelings of the family of the deceased !
He was also condemning those who are campaigning against underage marriage and Female circumcision as followers of the Kafirrs’ ways.
If I was President Barrow, these will be the priority of the SIS, because there is nothing more threatening to our security and peaceful coexistence than these bunch of preachers.

  6. By the way, this twisted ideology, which goes against the message and spirit of Islam, now forms the curriculum of Islamic Studies in many institutions in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
The more our graduates come from those institutions, the greater the risk to our peaceful coexistence and National security.
We really need scholars, like Dr Manta Drammeh and Imams Baba Leigh and Ceesay (Kaironews), to help clip the wings of these educated fools and dangerous idiots before they create havock in our peaceful country.
I remember watching one on You Tube (a Dr & head of a Jammeh funded Islamic institute ) saying that Islam permits Jammeh to kill anyone who opposed him.
Very dangerous idiots, who may already have abandoned Jammeh, with sights on Barrow.

  7. Bax, some of these so called Islamic scholars are the very reason that the Gambia is where it is. If i have the powers they will be charged for their programs and sermons on the radio and TV. They are a bunch of perverse, greedy, scheming judgmental hypocrites who want all the luxury in the world but not work for it. Baba Leigh is different because he goes to work like everyone else to earn a living. Being an Imam was not how he survive. I don’t know who Ceesay is but i suspect he is similar to Baba Leigh in that respect. One can say that at they don’t wake up in the morning and ask how much can i make from Islam today, instead they ask themselves how much can i contribute to Islam today? The hypocrisy of some of these so called religious leaders worked well for Yahya because he used it perpetuate himself as president and in the process nearly turned Gambia into a mini Boka Haram state. This is the truth, people can call me a heretic if they want.
