(JollofNews) – Renowned Senegalese comedian, Kouthia, has used his television show to parodied President Adama Barrow of the Gambia as a clueless head of state suffering from fatigue and narcolepsy.
In the episode aired on 24th August, Kouthia wore a three-piece tradition white haftan similar to the one Mr Barrow wears at state functions, poking fun at the now-viral photo of the president falling asleep during President Donald Trump’s speech at the Arab-Islamic-American Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Kouthia in character as Mr Barrow, fell asleep on several times while walking to meet a group of supporters singing praises of him and his regime.
In the spoof, the president’s cameraman had to keep tapping him on the back to wake him up every time he drifts off.
“How are you… hope you are all OK?” a sleepy Kouthia asked his supporters.
“Yes,” they replied before the cameraman reminded him that he had drifted off while walking to meet the supporters.
Kouthia admitted that he is suffering from fatigue.
“I swear to God, I don’t really know what’s happening to me…” he said in Wollof.
“They just took me and made me leader but am I am totally clueless. I have not even been to the State House since I was made head of state. I was just made leader and as we normally say, a person’s destiny will follow him even to his bed. No one has ever imagined that I would ever become a president.”
To the dismay of his supporters, Kouthia said he has become sluggish since becoming leader of the Gambia and is finding it difficult to accomplish anything he has planned for the Gambia.
“Since I became president, all I do is just sleep,” he said.
“For me, I don’t even know if I am the president because I only know about things after the decisions have been made.”
He accused his predecessor, Yahya Jammeh of using black magic to make him lethargic and narcolepsy.
Commenting on the deportation of Senegalese children from the Gambia last week, Kouthia said he was not informed of the deportations and only heard of it in the grapevines.
Kouthia said he had tried to protest against the deportations of undocumented Senegalese as President Macky Sall of Senegal is going to go bananas, but he was told it was too late.
Before the expulsions, relations between Banjul and Dakar have been cordial. President Barrow was initially sworn in as president in Dakar, and Senegal sent troops to The Gambia to force Mr Jammeh out of power.
Mr Barrow defeated Mr Jammeh in elections, ending his 22-year rule.
However, Mr Jammeh tried to cling to power, alleging that the result was rigged.
I could imagine spending a night out with this wonderful and talented comedian, would be a night to remember. Oops I have fallen asleep again…..lolololol
koucha is a big motherfucker
He’s a comedian and comedy is all about taking the mick.
Let’s keep our discussions free foul mouth emissions.
Gambia state of affair seems to be a typical favorite playground for Koutia anyway. I love comedy but not those by geopolitical bigots. He has all the characteristic of a proxy of a certain anti-Gambia Senegalese class, who do think that a confederate SeneGambia means, ‘YourGambia’; logically Senegal’s Gambia. Mais, Gambia, Gambia…… I do wonder, was Yayah Jammeh a triple agent sent to deface the people of a beautiful country? No wonder some like myself were suspicious of the idea of a Senegalese led Ecomig and also think that there is a France Long Nose in Africa’s conflicts.
I have no idea what Mr Koucha’s sleeping arrangements are: My respects to his dear Mother.
Better try to have an idea what his awakened arrangement are. S’il vous plait.
Anyway, if we gonna be a bit profound……, all mothers deserve the same respect.
Three cheers for Mike Scales. Simply great. Can I borrow your words of wisdom? Hopefully, we can disagree without being disgustingly foul mouthed.
RSVP…. But only if they birth no more than 3 children>>>so who will pay for the abortions and will The Gambia I know and love too much,,,bare this social and anti religious crime. These old grandpa politicians whose sperms forget to swim. A home where love becomes a duty and not a freedom. I miss my MUM. The best friend ever.
