(JollofNews) – The Equatorial Guinean activist Tutu Alicante has expressed his resolve to push ahead with plan to scale up pressure on President Theodoro Obiang Nguema to hand over Gambia dictator and his aides to the international court.
“We should engage United Nations Security Council members on issues regarding Yahya Jammeh and the ongoing atrocities in the country,” the Executive Director of EG Justice told JollofNews.
An international campaign to bring ex-Gambian dictator and his aides to justice was launched on Saturday in Banjul. The move came on the heels of rising demands for justice as the tiny West African nation is recovering from 22-year of dictatorship by the former ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC).
Tutu Alicante said campaigners have to do a lot of work in order to force Theodoro Obiang Nguema to send former long-time ruler and his acolytes to the Hague-based court.
“I have hope that Jammeh and his associates will face justice one day,” he said.
Ex-Gambian dictator, who is suspected to have ordered countless human rights violations, is said to be enjoying a golden exile in Equatorial Guinea since he lost to President Adama Barrow in a disputed 2016 presidential election.
“There is no doubt in my mind that we can bring Jammeh to justice,” he emphasized while indicating that changes occurred in countries like Equatorial Guinea during the last two decades.
Alicante said the atrocities that happened under the previous regime need to be exposed. “We should not wait for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take the lead in the campaign.”
The process of getting the murderous kanilai killer devil accounted for the untold barbaric atrocious against humanity & the state of art thiefries has been & still continues the endeavour of Gambians & friends; there won’t be any relent until the evil yaya devil & murderous accomplices got nailed, Insha Allah…
I’m hopeful once the truth commission starts sitting & circulating evidence of unhuman barbarities, the momentum will surge as the steps next to follow for handover the kanilai murderer & evil mercenaries involved for trials…
I don’t get it when resources, local &/ international, are wasted on such evil souls in names of ‘peace’ when they should be punished for the untold suffering caused deliberately on other & more genuine humanity; this will serve as deterrent for future would be murderous devils in human flesh & gear towards recurrences in general; (though a ‘dream’ currently, sumountable to be achieved in ‘our time’) but from (there &) then, hopefully, & gradually even the superpower & other lucifers too would get accounted for the other deliberate devillings around the world, affecting us all direct & indirectly in humanity in general; it’s (very) high ask for now undoubtedly but this is achievable for the future generations if pursued relentlessly; & gear to make the world better place for humanity…
Rectification please – barbaric atrocities – not atrocious; thank you
The ICC>> question mark ?
The signed agreement between Jammeh and Ecowas and the UN said not to be signed by Barrow question mark ?
Tutu Alicante question mark ?
President Obiang question mark ?
The International community question mark ?
The long walk of the Truth Commission question mark ?
The compensation claims of the victims question mark ?
My suggestion compensation should be done after all claims are process according to the law and it should come out of jammehs assets, once state has recovered all what jammeh has been acquired, nationally and internationally. It seem like this may takes a bit longer. (My opinion) .
Jammeh’s assets question mark ?.
And when will Tutu Alicante put enough pressure on Obiang to hand over Obiang (himself) to the ICC? Or is Tutu just blind to Obiang?
That’s funny (laughs). Obiang is still in power bro. You wait until he’s out. Tutu can’t be blind to Obiang because he’s described as “The Equatorial Guinean activist.”
Good Question:
