(JollofNews) – The Gambia’s Foreign minister has rubbished media reports that he had called for the resignation of President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo.
Ousainou Darboe was quoted saying in a recent interview with Reuters that President Gnassingbe should resign immediately and the African Union and West African regional bloc ECOWAS should persuade him to step down.
“I think the African Union and Ecowas should engage Togo and persuade the president to step down. When it goes against accepted norms I don’t think it should be treated as an internal affair,” Mr Darboe said in the interview.
But Demba Ali Jawo, minister of Information over the weekend told journalists that Ousainou Darboe has clarified the position of the Government of the Gambia on the political situation in Togo.
“Darboe said he did not call for the resignation of the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe, as published by the Reuters News Agency,” Mr Jawo said.
“The Gambia and the Republic of Togo remain bonded by strong ties of brotherhood and friendship and it is the wish of the two heads of states that these relations be further strengthened in the coming years.”
He didn’t say yes. He didn’t say no. He didn’t say stop. He didn’t say go>
OMG !!!
So lets work the whole thing out;
Make sure your mind is in gear before you select your brain.
Far or should stop interfering in other countries issues, Darboe on Catalonia and Darboe on Togo why???
I called this overreact.
Now people in the Gambia are complaining about the slowness of the new government, poor electricity and water supply. What’s going on Mr Barrow ?
If Foreign Minister Darboe had asked the AU to persuade President Faure to step aside, then I will support that position. After all, this coalition government had battled against a similar self perpetuating regime, and it will be morally wrong not to adopt the Foreign Ministry’s position with regards to Togo.
Lol there was no plans for post Jammeh we only wanted him to step down that’s it, no program no ideas as you seen after 12 month we still don’t know where to go what to do, we could call mr Kandeh after 3 year term
Right now Mr Kandeh is Best rated in front of Mr Sallah
