A 17-year-old lad has been killed after he was struck by lightning while gathering wild fruits to feed his ill mother and younger siblings.
Ebrima Jallow alias Mansa, was killed after he was hit in the face by a fierce lightning on Saturday whilst he was on top of the Kaaba tree.
According to villagers, the teenager who is described as respectful and industrious, became the breadwinner of his family after his dad died last year from a mysterious illness and his mum was injured in a road traffic accident.
On the day of his death, Mansa was reported to have took his mum to the health centre in neighbouring Kafuta about five Kilometres away, where she is receiving treatment for her injuries.
After returning home, he decided to go to the bush to collect some wild Kaaba fruits to sell and buy food for the family and also pay for the mum’s hospital bill. He was sadly struck in the face and killed while he was collecting the fruits on top of the tree.
His remains were laid to rest late that evening at Sohm cemetery.
His mum and siblings are said to be inconsolable and in need of aid.
