Detained BAC Councillor Goes On Hunger Strike

The Nominated Councilor for Transport at Brikama Area Council (BAC) began a hunger strike in protest against his detention. Sheriffo Sonko has been in Police custody since he was invited for questioning on Friday.

Mr Sheriffo Sonko was detained alongside his party campaign manager Momodou Sabally.

The Chairman of Brikama Area Council on Sunday announced Sonko has not eaten or drunk anything for more than 24 hours.

“We will hold the leadership of the Gambia Police Force responsible for anything that happens to him,” Chairman Yankuba Darboe wrote on Facebook.
