Police Commissioner Pateh Bah has blamed foreigners for driving spike in violent crimes in the country, describing the recent murder cases as “imported crimes.”
He made this remark on Tuesday during a press briefing held at Kairaba Police station, Fajara.
Over these past weeks, a good number of foreigners have been involved in murder cases that continue to send shockwaves across the tiny West African nation.
Commissioner Bah explained how Seedy Gaye teamed up with a Sierra Leonean national to carry out on February 16 an alleged aggravated robbery with a pistol in Fajara.
According to him, their target was a Bissau Guinean businessman who did not back down but fought off attacker – who was armed with a pistol.
The gunshots, he went on, prompted the public to alert the Police that stormed immediately the area.
As the duo were apprehended, Commissioner Bah seized the opportunity to unveil the sophisticated means used by criminals to escape arrest: cloned number plates, vehicle parked in an underground parking lot etc.
He made it clear that these are imported ideas coming from foreigners.

In another major development, the Regional Crime Officer, West Coast Region, Botto Keita, shined a light on the missing British national whose body was recovered last Friday.
He told reporters that Shaikna Chinedu was killed by Augustine Bangura, a Sierra Leonean national.
“He confessed to killing her with a hammer,” he added.
Keita further stated they were able to recover some valuable items stolen by the alleged murderer.
According to him, the investigation is at the final stage as they are set to take the matter to competent jurisdictions.
