The Ministry of Information has announced a moratorium on issuing radio licenses for all categories, which will remain in effect until further notice.
This decision was made while providing updates on applications under review by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).
The ministry emphasized its commitment to transparency in the application process.
Key updates from the ministry include:
17 renewal applications are currently under review by PURA.
5 applications have completed the review process, and reports will be submitted to the Ministry by Wednesday, 18th September 2024.
2 new approvals have been granted, with licenses expected to be signed by the Minister on 18th September 2024.
2 applications have been fully processed and are awaiting final action at the Ministry.
2 new applications are being processed.
5 radio station licenses have been revoked on PURA’s recommendation, and appeals have been received, which will be forwarded to the Ministry for determination.
Certain applicants have been asked to provide additional information by 20th September 2024 to avoid delays.
Additionally, the Broadcasting Enforcement Committee will meet on 18th September 2024 to assess pending renewal applications.
