Speaker Jatta Hails Barrow As Second To None In Democracy & Rule Of Law

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has commended President Adama Barrow’s leadership, describing it as unmatched in democracy, rule of law, and good governance.

He made the remarks during the 54th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region Conference held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo.

Jatta, widely known as FJT, singled out the president’s tolerance as a rare quality in politics. “Some of us will even go to tease to say I don’t know whether I can be as tolerant as President Adama Barrow,” he told delegates.

The Speaker added that those who have witnessed The Gambia’s political journey since independence could attest to the progress under Barrow’s leadership.

“For those of us who have witnessed independence to date, those who traversed the previous leadership to date and are genuine to our conscience very well know that The Gambia under the leadership of His Excellency President Adama Barrow is second to none in democracy, rule of law and good governance,” Jatta said.

He further credited the president with not only recognizing the independence of the National Assembly but also supporting efforts to strengthen and consolidate it.

The CPA Africa Region Conference brought together lawmakers from across the continent to discuss parliamentary cooperation and governance.
