At least one man has been killed in Tuesday’s fatal road collision involving a Mercedes Benz C Class along the busy Kairaba Avenue, police have confirmed.
A 40 year old female pedestrian who sustained broken leg and has been taken to the Serrekunda General Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
Although investigations are still ongoing, police said the accident happened today around 0600hrs when a speeding the Mercedes Benz with registration number BJL1141 Q, driven by Pa Modou Njie of Latrikunda Germany, crashed into an electric pole.
Police said Njie was trying to turn at a road junction opposite LG Samsung store when he lost control of the vehicle and collided head on with the electric pole.
Njie was removed from the wreckage and taken to Serrekunda General Hospital were he was later pronounced dead.
A police spokesman said peliminary investigations into the accident has led to the recovery of five bags of suspected cannabis from the vehicle.
The bags were seized and handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigations.
