Looking at what has happened in China and now Italy, human beings must begin to realize that we are incredibly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
However advanced in thinking, culture, or science, we must realize that in a battle against other pathogens of nature, however insignificant in size, we are potentially nothing more but mere mortal beings.
This period of the Coronavirus pandemic is a somber time, not one to politicize.
In other parts of the world, with better health facilities, significant measures are being taken to overcome this unseen force that is crashing the world. However, they are almost crumbling under pressure.
It is not a time to argue about whether it is right to gather or not. It is a time to know it is wrong to converge for whatever reason.
It is a time for leaders to continually address the people, bringing them up to date on developments and precautions as well as management techniques.
If we watch what is going on in other countries, we will know the gravity of Coronavirus, who is no respecter of person, position, or affluence.
The world is focusing on this unseen enemy; we should not be distracted by our usual political entanglements.
The governance of the Gambia is not executing in tandem with public interest but EGO. There is no synergy between different government departments.
Each Ministry or department is a “personal” turf of some government official. Nothing moves until ego moves. The ego creates fear. Ego expressed in out-of-time memos.
Grassroots Public Health Officers cannot act in the public interest until the ego memo arrives from State House. We are here, yet how about other administrative regions when did they begin to put together a semblance of “isolation facilities.”

Let us observe social distancing. Wash our hands with soap and water frequently and use hand sanitizer if you have it.
Avoid touching our faces as instructed by experts.
Try not to hold the rails in public vehicles because we have seen cases of people deliberating trying to infect others.
Eat from home as much as possible. Reduce traveling to the barest minimum.
Avoid gatherings! Self-quarantine if we think we have been exposed.
