Islam is not just a set of beliefs or even about rituals; it’s a way of life, a total submission to the Oneness of Allah and total obedience to what He decrees….Let each lift the mirror to his or her face and see if he or she is that Muumin, if he or she is following the commands as decreed, if he or she is actually living the life of a Muslim…
Am told that a Muslim is supposed to be the best example of humankind, one whose behaviours, manners, attitudes, personality and characters would endear people to Islam and not repel them.
You cannot be a Muslim and not epitomise the values, qualities and character that Islam teaches… A Muslim must be a lengthened shadow of Islam…A Muslim is very well mannered, exemplary and not have in his or her heart an atom weight of arrogance or haughtiness for “Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster (31:18)…
The Islam I know is a complete value system. It doesn’t not tolerate or encourage disobedience to one’s parents (with just one exception), insolence towards elders, dishonesty, debauchery, corruption, tyranny, inconveniencing the neighbor or any evil or bad deed….. You cannot be a Muslim and not be exemplary….
A cardinal value in Islam, am told, is speaking the truth however inconveniencing. “Speak the truth or keep quiet” we are told….Truth speaking earns one respect and honour…”Al Amin” wasn’t just a title… It was a befitting attribute of a man whose words and deeds never conflicted for once in his entire life. Congruence, credibility and consistency are cardinal for a Muslim….
Juxtapose your life against Islam and see if you really like the face you see in the mirror.
