More than forty people, majority of them Gambian youth, have been convicted of the ‘offences’ of being found in possession of Cannabis and other prohibited drugs for various purposes.
The anti-narcotics agency took 49 drugs matters to the various courts across the country but five people have been absolved of any culpability in drug offences, the agency reported earlier last week.
DLEAG said in a statement: “It must be stated it is in no way the total number of drug cases being tried across the country but an update of the cases that have been successfully dealt with by the courts for the said period (Jan-May 2022)”.
