The Gambian Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Abdou Colley, last Friday 19th February, 2010, called on the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
According to a statement on the OIC’s website, Mr Colley is on a working visit to the headquarters of the global Islamic body.
The statement said that the two sides who met at the offices of the OIC Secretary General in the Saudi city of Jeddah, reviewed bilateral relations between Gambia and the OIC and ‘‘examined ways of consolidating these relations in the various fields.’’
The statement went on to say that while acknowledging a goodwill message from the Gambian leader, Yahya Jammeh, as conveyed by the visiting Finance Minister, the OIC Secretary General Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed satisfaction at Gambia’s active participation in the activities of the organization, ‘‘particularly in the various economic projects established pursuant to the Ten-Year Programme of Action.’’
