NAM for Brikama North Alhagie S. Darboe has expressed worry over the continued presence of Ecomig forces in The Gambia.
The sub-regional peace-keeping mission was sent to Banjul six years ago after the 2016 disputed presidential election.
However for legislator Darboe, the extended stay of West African peace-keeping forces in the country raises some security questions.
“We are not at war but we have an impasse which is in the past. Is the government hiding something that we didn’t know regarding the security of the country or we didn’t trust our security force,” Darboe was quoted by Kexx Sanneh News as asking during the continuation of the debate on Barrow’s State of the Nation Address.
