The Gambia’s ministry of the interior is “working round the clock” to put an end to the leakage of “sensitive” state secrets, revealed the country’s attorney general and minister of justice on Friday.
The Gambia government is apparently unable to prevent the public from consuming some of the issues it regarded as secret and sensitive materials of the state.
Jaws meantime dropped sometime this week when the masses learnt of the allocation of D1m to health minister Dr.Lamin Samateh for a tour of AKI-affected families.
This and other leakages have deeply embarrassed the government but justice minister Dawda Jallow has warned of consequences in passing state secrets to the public.
“It’s very sad civil servants have nothing to do but to take government documents to put them in the social media. It’s very sad. We are doing something about it. People may be caught of that and if anybody is caught, they would be punished,” he told Coffee Time With Peter Gomez this morning.
The attorney general disclosed that the interior ministry “is working very hard and very soon” they will put marks on documents for traceability in case of leakage.
“No government can allow this to continue. Leaking of sensitive government document in the media is not professional. It’s unacceptable,” Mr. Jallow said.
