The jailed opposition leader Ousmane Sonko has taken to Facebook to react to the verdict handed down by Justice Ousmane Racine Thior, urging the authorities to reinstate him in the electoral list.
“Glory to Allah the Unique!” he exclaimed in a succint statement posted Thursday on the social message platform Facebook.
A recent opinion poll conducted by British Petroleum has revealed that PASTEF leader is set to win the 2024 elections in the first round. Many observers believe that Macky Sall regime is weaponizing the judiciary to prevent Sonko from taking part in the upcoming Presidential elections.
He commended his lawyers for their dedication and loyalty as his counsels stood firm on their grounds in speerheading the legal battle.
While expressing his gratitude to the Senegalese people, he thanked Africans and foreigners who threw their weight behind him.
Earlier today, Justice Ousmane Racine Thior delivered a verdict in favour of Ousmane Sonko. His decision comes barely two months after Justice Sabassy Faye took a similar judgement in the Southern of Ziguinchor.
