(JollofNews) – Five supporters of President Yahya Jammeh’s APRC are confirmed dead in a road accident on Saturday after their driver lost control of the vehicle around Sofanyama Bridge.
An unknown number of other supporters were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and are being treated at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.
The victims who are named are Lamin Njie of Brusubi, Dawda Conteh of Bakau, Modou Lamin Sanyang of Serrekunda (Crab Island), Lamin Touray alias Tin Tin of New Jeshwang, and Bakary Tanja of Bundung were on their way to attend a country-wide tour of President Jammeh in Janjangbureh.
Two of the victims were said to have died on the spot while the remaining three were also pronounced dead at Jarra Soma Health Centre.
The cause of the accident is not known but police sources have blamed it on over-speeding. The late APRC supporters were buried the following day.
