Here’s to welcoming this great nation into the bodacious buffoonery of Third World dictatorships.
In the American spirit of leading by example, I’m sure Trumpism will not only catch up with the remaining competition (Mugabeism currently holding the lead), but far surpass them all since dictatorships have been in serious decline all over the world.
I can testify that the Gambia last saw this megalomaniac showmanship in display during Yahya Jammeh ended Nine months ago.
The visible tip of the iceberg is always common and unimpressive. What lies underneath however, is a massive block of unknown treachery that can sink a ship. The real problem is that anyone would be dismissive of what’s unseen.
That the world’s “greatest democracy” even has a sitting President with unrevealed tax returns; a billionaire of a President with a history of sending thousands of his employees into financial ruin through bankruptcies that only made him richer; a wheeler-dealer of a President with suspicious business connections; a narcissistic sociopath of a President who revels in personal insults, defamation campaigns and blatant lies– is surreal, discomfortingly laughable and sad. American tribalism (so-called “nationalism”) played a big role in the Trump vote, a perfect mirror of the worst of primitive democratic processes.
And that tribe will never see anything wrong in “their man.” I laugh because I never thought a day would come when American politics would have so much in common with failed democracies where “our man” is more important than the qualities and moral legitimacy of a leader.
The only saving grace now is America’s well-established institutions and activism that hopefully won’t allow the country to sink, but must continue forcing the light to shine on what lies underneath.
Americans have always voted for “their man” who ever that may be. A Nixon, Carter, Bush, Clinton or Trump. Their strong institution give them the monopoly on stupidity with inherent protection from self destructive choices devoid of an individual ability to usurp power by self perpetuation. I find the African situation more destabilizing and destructive compared to that in America, where there is a clear separation of power and a concrete term limit on incompetence, racism and immaturity as it is the case now in the US.
Trump has increased America’s economic value by several trillion dollars since coming to power. He has also sent strong messages to NATO that the US will only fund its quota to International defence and no longer will fund other nations. His pause on climate change, has made the world reevaluate the present and future position on carbon emissions. One in 6 deaths worldwide are now attributed to air pollution. Sea Temperatures are rising and with it ice melt down and sea levels. Trump has questioned the nonproliferation agreement of Nuclear weapon capability of Iran. Iran are claimed to be the one of the biggest global sponsors of terrorism.
The nuclear threat posed by North Korea on neighbouring countries and the Free World is a cause for Global concern. Trump has engaged this threat while other governments have chosen to keep quiet in the hope that this crisis will go away. Not too dissimilar to the rise of Hitler.
Trump stands by his mandate. Of course the media love him because he fills their pages every day making earning a living less complicated. I think animosity mixed with character make for very foggy debates. So does making allegations into convictions before being proved.
Trump continues to use his most famous catch phrase>>>Your Fired !!!
I respect your take Mike. Many Americans love their President. I find him disgusting and divisive. But that is a beautiful thing, is it not? we all can agree to disagree.
Mike, this is one subject where you and I will probably never agree. Trump may have increased America’s economic value, but at what cost? Multi-billion Dollar contracts with Saudi Arabia to literally wipe Yemen off the map. Is that worth praising? Stoking up tensions in the Korean peninsula to cash in on the nervous neighbours of little North Korea, whose only wish is survival from US aggression since the 1950s. That is not engagement; that’s provocation and the world knows it, though only few dare voice it.
Trump’s refusal to certify the Iran Nuclear Deal, despite the whole Free World saying that Iran has fulfilled its commitment under the deal, is ample testimony to the danger that the US poses to the Free World. This is what should be the Global concern, and it evidently is recognised as such, by the reaction of everyone, except of course, Netanyahu, whom he is trying to please.
I’m not a fan of everything Iran does and I think it does so many bad things, but the claim that it is the biggest sponsor of terrorism, is the biggest lie that has been told by the US and her Western allies for decades now. At least, for us in Africa, we know who is organising, sponsoring and facilitating terrorists movements in the continent, and its not Iran. Iran is itself, a victim of US encouraged and probably, supported terrorism of the Jundallah Terrorist Group, which was only designated a terrorist group in 2010, after its captured leader confessed his association with the US. Perhaps, the Obama Administration was embarrassed by the cold blooded murder of worshippers in the Iranian city of Chahbahar that same year, by the same bunch of cold blooded killers.
Our terrorists are Wahhabi Sunnis, trained and equipped by Washington, under guises of fighting dictatorships, and funded by the petrodollar of the Wahhabi states of the Gulf. General Lloyd Austin was at pains explaining to a Senate armed services committee, what happened to all the fighters they were supposed to train and equip under a $500m “train & equip” project, and he could account for FOUR or FIVE fighters. We know what happened to the trained fighters and their US supplied weapons because President Putin told us: They joined ISIS or moved further afield, into Africa, in search better employers.
They are providing the US the pretext it needs to station troops in Africa, to combat rising Chinese influence in the continent, by the only way it knows: use of violence.
Its a fraud that this superpower, whilst preaching peace is actually the harbinger of death, destruction and chaos wherever it makes a presence around the world. The sooner we undress this “soulless” emperor, the better for humanity.
My good doctor, Mr Bourne and my online idol Bax. I think you know my style well by now. If I was endorsing Donald Trump I would have done a much better job
{I hope}
I have stated what is in the public domain, so please read me again. If I have given my own isolated opinion, then please continue. In any case my views on fairness and the media have been well traded. The thing I admire about Jollof News is that I cannot recall them ever giving their own opinions and only report the news. We are the opinions. The International media now trade in their own opinions with specialist correspondents, on all the departments of Government. Some of these “expert” opinions are sometimes very biased. So maybe I have reflected some biased expert media opinions? I know your opinions on Iran The US and Saudi Arabia and Israel and western arms deals and that they appear without conscience and without moral conscience>>> consequences>> and follow the arab money.
I do not research such questions as a rule, so I bow and listen to your well researched opinions with my usual respect. You will however note that the recent terrorist attacks on Europe and England emanated from Africa. Though they may have been sponsored by some other place deep in the Middle East.{ according to the media.}
The Middle East has been a conflict zone for thousands of years closely followed by Europe and Africa and Asia. Condemnation for one must be followed by condemnation for all. As Churchill said>>” more wars are caused by misunderstandings than any other reason. Sorry if I am misunderstood. I must try to be misunderstood more often. It makes me think.
I think therefore I am.
