Saudi Arabia Gives Over 4000 Cartons Of Sacrificial Meat To Gambia

(JollofNews) – The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Islamic Development Bank, Friday donated 4530 cartons of sacrificial meat to the poor and needy in the Gambia.

Receiving the cartons on behalf of the Foreign Minister, the minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure, Demba Ali Jawo, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Saudi Government and the Islamic Development Bank for the gesture.

He assured them that the gesture will benefit the less privileged throughout the country.

“It is without doubt that we will further strengthen the bilateral ties and Muslim solidarity that exist between the two countries,” he remarked.

Minister Jawo used the opportunity to assure the Government of Saudi Arabia of the continued support of the Gambia under the leadership of President Adama Barrow.

Abu Zeyad, a representative of the Islamic Development Bank, said he was delighted to preside over the handing over ceremony and prayed for Allah’s blessing and guidance on the Gambia and her leadership.

  1. Most of the meat will remain in the hands/homes of the receptors and the rest to their buddies. The greater mayority of our poor will never benefit from them, Demba Jawo knows that. He’s just making the usual official rhetoric which he knows would not go beyond the premises of the gift-warehouse.
Besides, should we continue to live on gifts, even though they are from the Saudi Kingdom, which is anointed with corruption and the marginalization of her poor Saudi people.
This is a very short-term benefit and in fact not a gift but a package of items which the entire Muslim Umma contributed in affording.
When will there be a tangible government executable blueprint on animal husbandry that will cater for sufficient meat and animal hide/skin production to alleviate meat shortage throughout the year most especially during the Banna Salo/Koriteh feasts?

    • Well Babu, Yaya Jammeh, your preferred leader, had 20 years to develop, “animal husbandry that will cater for sufficient meat and animal hide/skin production to alleviate meat shortage throughout the year most especially during the Banna Salo/Koriteh feasts?”, but he didn’t.
MAY be, that’s where the blame should lie. Barrow can be blamed if he fails to achieve anything in that regard, at the end of his term.

  2. This initiative (of distributing Hajj meat) is perhaps, the best thing that the Saudi authorities have done for the Muslim Ummah, especially for the less privileged people around the world. They deserve a lot of praises for this. May Allah (SWT) reward their efforts.
I hope the meat is distributed fairly to reach the most needy, irrespective of religion or beliefs.

  3. It is a good guesture, but 4000 cartons for the whole country? It will be next to impossible for every poor household in Serra Kunda alone to get some. Maybe we should develop our animal husbandry to satisfy the needs of the country.

    • Your smart! 4000 cartons of mutton for 2m people. Ridiculous. The meat should be donated to Abuko Nature Reserve if they still keep hyenas and lions out there, instead of 2m people scrambling down on 4 thousand boxes of meat like vultures.

  4. Bax,
The blame should lie with a QUALIFIED veterinary doctor from Scotland’s most prestigious veterinary universities, who commanded the Gambian veterinary department for years, became president of our country for over 31 years and did absolutely nothing to develop an economic sector he had more authority over.
Shame on you to mention President Jammeh’s initiatives in providing meat at affordable prices to the poor while you blind-folded your criticisms on a man who had more knowledge on cattle, Ex-President Jawara.

    • I’m not absolving Jawara from his failures, but you singled out Barrow, who succeeded Jammeh; not Jawara. That’s why I said the blame for the absence of what you mentioned, rests more with Jammeh than Barrow.
Babu, it should be “shame on you” for mentioning that initiative to subsidise meat for the poor, after what we now know about the sources of those funds and how they were taken on Jammeh’s orders. You are the one who is blind-folding yourself to the daily revelations of the Janneh Commission.
Shame on you Babu for praising the rampant theft of state (public) and pensioners’ funds to feed the same victims of the theft. That’s like a person praising a thief who paid part of their rent after he emptied their bank account and made off with much of their money. What a fool they will be!!
We have nothing to praise Jammeh for with regards to subsidised meat. It was stolen money from us; not his own money. The man was a joke.

  5. Babu; Jawara never personalised & change the Abuko livestock government department into a kanilai family farm owned private enterprise; stolen from the very public & being funded by the same public resources for selfishly looting from the peasantry Gambians by the evil kanilai Ibliza…?

  6. Bax,
We don’t need your appraisal for President Jammeh, Bax, neither would you appreciate our appraisal for Barrow the inefficient “president”.
In as much as you hate President Jammeh, we unreservedly HATE your president with all his clique of inefficient people who are just wasting our time and resources and doing exactly what bad they initially accused President Jammeh of doing. We PRAY for his failure, so that the Gambia can, by the grace of the Almighty Allah(SWT), get rid of INEPTITUDE, INEFFICIENCY, TRIBALISTIC TENDENCIES, INFLUENCE-PEDDLING, CORRUPT and CORRUPTIBLE activities.
Haven’t you read that your Barrow has sent his son for schooling to the USA? Haven’t you learnt that his brother at Mankamang Kunda is driving a brand new Pajero with full escort? Haven’t you learnt that his second wife went on a spending/squandering spree of public funds in the URR with a huge delegation of YAI KOMPINS just as a guest at a football match? All in less than a year in office! With nothing substantive in return for the Gambian masses to benefit from.

These and many other covert STUPID and CORRUPTIBLE attitudes and activities are taking place right under your nose and blind-folded eyes.
Is that the change you promised our poor masses? Don’t get me vexed at your blindness, Bax, OK?

Shame on you and your dysfunctional administration for driving on the excellent trunk roads, using the excellent TV station, learning at the excellent secondary and primary schools, the excellent UTG; the excellent electricity and water facilities(which until recently your inefficient administration has started to destroy), the excellent bridges you cross that President Jammeh left as FINE/EXCELLENT legacies.

    • Babu,
Your boss is a reaper of a poor country of its meagre resources under the disguise of presidency and everybody including you know is a fact that has no undertones of hate in it. He sells everything of public demand in his name and block the private sector. He grabs private citizens’ legally hard earned properties and makes them his. He is literally jealous of any private citizens’ prosperity and would stick his nose in their private struggles to see to it that they fail. He displayed his ugly sky high portraits all over the country. He stuffed everything belonging to Gambians in his stomach yet hungry all the way through the years terrorising poor people.
Isn’t it hate you symbolize yourself? Can anybody runaway from the evil that dwells in their souls?
You’ll joke and laugh with others in real life am sure, but the devil that prevails in your demonic conscience is displayed right here online as @Babu Soli.
