Gambia’s Vice President Dr Isatou Touray has tested negative for coronavirus just over a week after testing positive for the disease.
Dr Touray tested positive for the disease on July 29 and has since been self-isolating. Several other ministerial colleagues have also tested positive.
But a statement from the Office of the President said a second test was conducted on the vice president on Wednesday and came out negative today.
It added that the vice president is responding to her treatment but did not say when she or the president who is also in self-isolation will resume office.
The statement reminded the public that the coronavirus is real and exists in the Gambia.
It added: “All and sundry is advised to properly use face masks, maintain regular hand washing and social distancing in the fight against the virus. Stay home, safe and always act with COVID-19 in mind. “
