Hon. Darboe was convinced that the recent EU presentation of cash to the Gambia Red Cross Society for flood victims was a ‘clear’ indication of the West’s dipping trust and confidence in the Barrow administration’s ability to use the monies for the right purposes.
Now, the US has also given monetary support for flood victims but not through the government of The Gambia.
Instead, the $250,000 cash support for the victims was also given to the Gambia Red Cross Society.
So, the question that arises is: Is the Barrow government’s handling of money really causing a trust deficit between it and the West?
