Ex-President Jammeh Invited To Give Evidence At Commission

Yahya Jammeh said he won the election

(JollofNews) – The Commission of Inquiry into former President Yahya Jammeh’s financial dealings, his family and close associates has announced that Jammeh and any other person affected by evidence so far presented before it can come forward and testify.

A public notice issued by the Commission revealed that the inquiry will from 25 June receive evidence from the exiled former President Yahya Jammeh, his family members, named close associates, and any person or persons who consider themselves adversely affected by the evidence so far laid before the commission and hear viva voce submissions .

According to the statement, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, anyone who falls under any of the categories mentioned is required to submit a written request to the Commission.

The statement said all requests must be submitted before or on 15 June and if a request is not received with regard to any person by that date, the commission will assume that such person does not intend to present evidence or cross-examine in this inquiry.

Jammeh was summoned by the inquiry since early this year through a diplomatic channel while in exile in Equatorial Guinea.

The Commission should subpoena Yahya Jammeh, his wife and ALL the General Officers in GAF. They should also allow them to give closed testimony if that’s the only way to get them to talk. At this point, it will help to put closure to this ugly episode if we can hear from those who gave the orders and those who had real authority.

    • Right Dr sarr, they should not leave no stone unturned, at this moment lots of people got hurt and they are simply demanding justice. Jammeh’s enablers and close associate should not be walking freely without facing justice, people like Edward singhateh, his brother Peter singhateh, saul badjie, the list goes on. This will set an example and send a message to others that every living has a right to justice, if they feel their is violated.

The CORRUPT commission should broaden its work to invite those who allowed the massacring of our people, over 800, in 1981. Unless this episode is addressed and redressed there will be no peace. Be sure about that, Isatou. Sooner or later the voices of those whose loved ones were massacred in 1981 will be raised. We still have the criminals who masterminded that cruel act of genocide.
Don’t try to evade that fact. It will come to light.

    • Babu Soli
Yahya Jammeh had 22 years to set up a commission to look into the circumstances surrounding the issue of the 800 people massacred as you claimed. What stopped him?

      • Babu soli, is a clueless person if you are talking about 800 people what about over 1000 people that yaya Jammeh killed or disappear them ?

      • Exactly..I’ve asked the same question before but got no response. May be, we’ll get one now.

Babu do you realize this is 2018. In 2003 Yahya Jammeh met several times with KSS and the Senegalese, although talks failed he never accused anyone of killing 800 Gambians. Do you even realize that during the 1981 rebellion most of the injuries and civilian death was caused by civilian on civilian anger and looting. Do you even realize that most of the homes and business set on fire was done by demonstrators who were generally upset with affairs of state. Let’s even give it to you the way you see it.
      1. Why did Yahya not arrest Kukoi in 2002-2004 when he was home.
      2. Why did Yahya not probe the rebellion and all the deaths you are claiming from 1994 – 2016.
      3. From 1994 to 2016 why was APRC and their supporters not raising the issues about the killings that you claimed the Senegalese are responsible for.
      4. Lastly who else besides Babu Soli is making this claims.
      5. Why is it that not a single Gambian born historian has ever made such claims or investigated such event.
      6. Are you trying to make us believe that only Babu Soli is aware of this information.
Most Gambians do not know President Jawara personally or well. I know the man. You can say whatever you like about his politics and actions as president, but as a man, he is honorable. He does not lie. Ever. I have had many conversations with him. Babu he was there, you were never there. What you believe is misinformation or disinformation. It is an extremely well planted LIE that someone or something put in your head. It never happened.
To end this at least from my side. I also have had several occasions to have conversations with Yahya Jammeh. Babu, Yahya is not now, not ever a good human being. He is a liar, a thief and the most selfish dishonorable Gambian you will ever meet.
The lies and pan Africanist stance is all for show, same as the Qur’an. He was a glutton. He cared about nothing, not a man, woman or child. Just HIMSELF.
Now let’s all stop wasting time on Yahya. His a dead man to Gambia.

Dr.Isatou Sarr, thank you for your brilliant comments on Buba Soli’s assertions. You touched on all aspect of our society. This is a good advice to all Gambians. I like your skills to communicate the facts to all interested persons to digest from hate speech in Yahya Jammeh’s regime’s atrocities for a better Gambia. We need intelligent people like you to properly advise the Gambians on how to learn and forgive the atrocities committed by Yahya Jammeh during his tenure as the president of our motherland. Gambians trusted him and betrayed them. The TRRC needs your expertise for proper administration of what they are assigned to execute for proper management of the bad governance of his evil regime. As Yahya had killed lot of Gambians, robe our Central Bank and rape our own daughters, Sisters and wives. We cannot recover that now, Let us allow justices to take it’s course and allow him to die thousand times and live to know what is wrong is always regrettable. By hanging him will make him die ones. Yahya desires to die more than thousand times.

  3. Yusupha jammeh

Babu solo you have a problem.

  4. Well said Isatou sarr, Babu soli you want justice? we are all muslims if not then 95% of what we share as gambia belongs to us. our society should be ruled base of our faith and not the so-call constitution left by colonialism. if it is to vote for the notion of the unity of the ummah against any other view, we are still the majority
introducing islamic laws dosent mean going around and killing any one whos not muslim you all know that… the system is failing us from independance and yet no better solution for the misrable oppressed people in the society. this system only has and will only favour the ones with degrees and PHDs in deception and lies to govern, allowing corruction to be the fabric of their justice

  5. Thank you Dr Sarr for putting it straight to the lying so call Babu Soli. The likes of him just make up stories as they go along. Comparing Yaya Jammeh to Jawara is like comparing chalk to cheese. Was it Jawara who asked Kukoi to stage the coup? It was Kukoi and his armed bandits who started it.They went into prisons and let the criminals out and gave them arms in the name of defending Gambia from the invading Senegalese forces. I was only about 11 years old but I remembered seeing guns everywhere and I and many others where jubilant when we saw the Senegalese soldiers rolling into town to put a stop to the carnage. Any death, injuries and lost of properties lies squarely on those who started it Kukoi Samba Sanyang and his gang of criminals.

  6. Babu soli doesn’t have any ammonitions again, ideas are exusted. Jammeh is gone forever and will never be back again as president only a private like any of us depending he is clean enough. Wuray!!! at time vormit from your nonskull accusations and comments. Take a breath dude
