FTJ’s Appointment Absolves Army Of Any Trust Deficit – SABS

Former Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, Momodou Sabally, has contended that if President Adama Barrow could entrust the National Assembly to Fabakary Tombong Jatta, he should then have no distrust in the national army.

“If Barrow can trust Fabakary in an institution that can impeach him overnight, there is no reason he should distrust an army who have shown us no sign of getting interested in politics and a lot of whom have apologised to the nation they regretted their past,” Sabally pointed out when contacted by JollofNews, regarding the deficit of trust between Mr. Barrow and the military.

According to the former presidential affairs minister, the President has no reason to distrust the security.

“The only reason they had was they were loyal to Yahya Jammeh but you have Fabakary Tombong Jatta and co. who were even closer to Yahya Jammeh, serving his government,” he stated.

To Sabally, FTJ is more inimical to President Barrow’s political health and survival than the military.

“Fabakary manning one of the most important institutions in this country,” he wondered aloud.

“And, Fabakary on the day he was sworn-in as Speaker of the House said he still maintains his stance that Barrow rigged the 2016 election. If Barrow can trust Fabakary in an institution that can impeach him overnight, there is no reason he should distrust our army,” he argued.
