Gambia’s Opposition GMC Honours Ex-Senegal Presidents

image ba1ac35c5fd3aed9fe1320e78fa2e6b19c05a587e19f1298b6fe1cc44a27ca98 V(JollofNews)- An opposition party in the Gambia has presented an award to two former Senegalese presidents in recognition of their invaluable promotion of unity and integration between Banjul and Dakar.

Former Presidents Abdou Diouf and Abdoulaye Wade were given the award by the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) which was founded by the lawyer Mai ahmed Fatty is 2009 with the motto People Power for Human Rights and Economic Justice.
Presenting the award a colourful ceremony in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, Mai Ahmad Fatty, thanked the two former leaders for their invaluable stance in fostering peace and stability between the Gambia and Senegal. He commended the former leaders for their hardwork and efforts in promoting regional integration most especially on relations between the two sister countries.
Mr Fatty apologised to the former and current leadership in Senegal behalf of the entire Gambian citizenry for the recent insults and offensive remarks made against them by President Yahya Jammeh.
“It is indeed a shame that a president like Yahya Jammeh can utter such abusive language at his colleagues and neighbours for no reason,” Mr Fatty said.
“It is very irresponsible, unGambian and shameful.”
The GMC leader thanked President Macky Sall for his peaceful stance between the Gambia and Senegal.
He said President Sall has always considered Gambians and Senegalese as one people with one goal and was also one the reasons why he made his first international visit as president to Banjul.
