Civil servants indeed have a cause to jump for joy as their salary package and other benefits are set to be enhanced at June end, if what the Gambia government spokesperson told JollofNews is anything to go by.

The PMO and other relevant players have been working behind-the-scenes for the past few months to review the new government pay-scale with a view to rewarding performance, stemming the worrying attrition rate in the civil service and to promoting quality service delivery.

The Gambia government has on Friday indicated to JollofNews that government workers will this month smile away home with an enhanced pay cheque as the government begins the implementation of the new pay-scale.

“It will,” government spokesman Ebrima G. Sankareh told JollofNews when asked whether the proposed salary scheme will come into effect this month as touted by the government.
