Young Gambian talent Alieu Drammeh is on the brink of a major career milestone as Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to offer him his first professional contract.
The 15-year-old winger, who currently plays for the club’s Cadete A team, will sign a three-year deal once he turns 16 on 18 August, according to reports from Spain.
Drammeh, born to Gambian parents and a rising star in Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, has been a standout performer since he arrived at the club three years ago from Mataró’s Infantil B team. His development through the ranks has been nothing short of impressive.
Known for his pace, strength, and eye for goal, Drammeh ended the 2024/25 season as the top scorer for Barcelona’s Cadete A team, netting 12 goals in all competitions—including 11 in the league. His contributions helped solidify his place as a key player under head coach Cesc Bosch.
The right-winger, who has also represented the Gambian Under-17 national team, has drawn praise for his consistency and attacking instincts. He has been competing with fellow winger Byron Mendoza for a starting spot, but it was Drammeh who finished the season as the team’s most dangerous forward.
Barcelona’s decision to offer Drammeh a professional contract fits into a wider strategy to secure the future of its academy talents. Club director Deco is overseeing efforts to retain top prospects not just in the senior squad but also in La Masia.
Drammeh’s renewal is part of a push to keep the core of the Cadete A team together as they move up to Juvenil B next season.
